Click here to get yours. Only 50 available, signed by Toni Storm! I’m sending you this a little early as these are likely to sell out quickly.
Hi. My name's Rob Schamberger. I'm that guy who paints rasslers. And other stuff. No matter what the future brings, as time goes by.
WORDS
I have a deep affinity for classic Hollywood, so Timeless Toni Storm is a natural for me to want to paint. I thought it’d be fun to take a slightly different approach visually from what they’re already doing with her, going more in a noir direction. Less Norman Rockwell and more Frank Miller, if you will. It’s definitely raised a lot of ideas for future works of her.
This is also my first wrestler-signed print with AEW, and with it being the Timeless Champ herself I feel like these will sell out pretty fast!

WHAT I LIKED THIS WEEK
I went to see Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and was thoroughly entertained by it. There was a couple sitting behind me and the lady asked before it started, “So, what’s this movie about?”
To which her date said, “Yo, we’re about to watch some monkeys fight!” Halfway through, a monkey clubs another ape in the head and the guy said, “Toldja!”
I also saw Challengers and while it’s an honestly good movie, I feel like the trailers didn’t really do a great job of saying what the movie was about. It’s a very stylish examination of what drives people to keep going and keep competing. Plus I’m reminded that I don’t understand anything about tennis and its scoring.
The 2004 Battlestar Galactica is finally available again, now streaming on Prime (the mini-series is there too, though oddly as a separate listing). I get something different out of it with each viewing, and this time around I’m paying attention to the less obvious things that made it stand out so much. The camera movements, the lighting and the set decorations are all so different from anything of that time and helped to aid the performances and scripts. It’s all so grimy and tangible and lived-in.
I also like to think that Count Iblis from the original series created this new universe and is the Cylon God.
This season of X-Men 97 has really been a blast to watch, hasn’t it? A whole lot of radical changes for the characters and their settings while still just being a fun show. No genies were put back in their bottles and the stakes kept ratcheting up and up. Looking forward to the next season!
It’s funny that I’ve become a superfan of a show that started seven years before I was born, but here we are. Sometimes The Midnight Special did themed episodes, and this one for ‘Golden Oldies’ (which holy moly, but that math music from 2005 would be a Golden Oldie today) is OUTSTANDING. Obviously Roy Orbison is a can’t miss but I was blown away by what a performer Jackie Wilson was. It’s one of those things you hear was great but it’s super cool to finally see it. That’s the coolest thing about this show for me, that I get to actually see so many musicians in their prime. And most of these episodes haven’t been seen since they originally aired half a century ago!
I so wish there was something like this for a live Martin & Lewis performance. Sure, they did movies together but by all accounts their stage shows were incomparable, sometimes causing actual laugh riots because they were so funny.
FIGURE DRAWING
Here’s some work I did from Tuesday night’s figure drawing session at Art School KC with our MVP model Doug. The first one was a 10 minute pose done with water soluble ink in a parallel pen, the second two were 20 minutes with watercolor and the parallel pen and the final one was 30 and just watercolor.
I was happy with this session and I feel like I’m getting close to where I want to be with my life drawing skills.
Important Kima Update
YOU GOOD?
Wild week for me. I wrapped up the office move, got a lot of work done preparing for my fun secret thing and dealt with some other less fun stuff. Trying to terminate a commercial lease is not a pleasant experience. But I’m working through it all and I feel as confident as I can with everything right now.
I’m ready to have the past exclusively existing in the past.
Love you more,
Rob
We must also remember that Toni Storm's ovaries needs love too!
