With my WWE 2K23 cover revealed on Monday, I thought it’d be fun to take a look back at a massive mural I painted for them back in 2016 as a part of their roster reveal at E3. I had about two days to make this start to finish if I remember correctly and I think it was something like 8’ x 12’ in size. A biggun!
At one point while I was painting either Cena or Warrior, I was up on top of the ladder and took a moment to look back to see around 500 people standing there watching me paint. Wild! Then I looked over to the next exhibit across the aisle and they had Lil’ Wayne putting on a surprise concert and I swear I had a bigger crowd!
Now listen, E3 probably wasn’t Lil’ Wayne’s target demographic but I’m going to occasionally brag about this little win the rest of my life. A metric ton of people came through to watch me paint and I got to do a lot of interviews including with my pal Xavier Woods aka Austin Creed for his Up Up Down Down channel. 2K treated me like a rock star that week and I did my very best to be worthy of that.
I’m told the mural is now at the studio where 2K does their mo-cap, or it was for a time. I’m proud of what I accomplished with some paint, brushes, a chair and a ladder. And a lifetime of developing my skills too, I guess.
Love you more,
Rob
That’s pretty damn cool 😎.
That’s a great story. I love seeing these older paintings, I used to spend hours at work on my down time going through your old website 😁
