Hi. My name's Rob Schamberger. I'm that guy who paints rasslers. And other stuff. These things that are pleasin’ you can hurt you somehow.
WORDS
Believe it or not, this is my very first solo painting of the legendary Terry Funk. Because of the importance of this, and more importantly his importance to so many wrestling fans around the world, I wanted to make it the very best painting I possibly could. Utilizing so many of the tools and techniques you’ve watched me learn over the recent past, I feel like I gave this the proper gravity and care.
A friend described Terry Funk as possibly the last true ‘outlaw wrestler’, someone who would come into a town or territory for a short, concentrated and meaningful run before moving onto the next one, like a drifter in the Old West. He was the sort of wrestler I don’t know that we’ll see again. My hope is that this painting gives fans the same feeling seeing it that they had watching him every time he stepped between the ropes.

It looks like my time of painting live during WrestleMania week for WWE has come to a close. They and Fanatics are moving in a different direction going forward. There’s been a lot of changes behind the scenes over the past couple years, in case you weren’t aware, and things are consequently very different now. It’s the nature of things.
Related, I’ll no longer be able to collect signatures on my prints anymore. What’s listed on WWE Shop will be the last of what I’m able to provide, so if you see something there you want I recommend getting it sooner than later. Fanatics may be able to continue with them independent of my operations, but that’s ultimately beyond my sphere of influence.
One of the few things guaranteed in life is change.
That said, my library of prints are still available through WWE Shop and Schamberger Labs, and original paintings are still available through Labs as well.

ORIGINAL TERRY FUNK PAINTING
Acrylic on on 15” x 20” illustration board. Only one person gets the original painting, where I put brush to paper and physically created it. Since you’re a paid subscriber I think you should get a 24 hour lead on everyone else before it becomes publicly available. Here’s the link if you want to go for it. I have a hunch that you might with this one.
Always working on something!
YOU GOOD?
As I work to expand my career, I’m also expanding my subject matter and approaches to how I make art to take advantage of new opportunities. The above work-in-progress is just that sort of thing. I can’t really talk about what it’s for yet, but simply making it is a joy. The idea for it came from work I’ve been doing with my Emotion Series paintings (starting the next one this week!), and I’m even using the same model, Zelda, from one of those paintings.
I also pitched something a few days ago in regards to the Emotion Series that I feel is the natural evolution for what I’m doing with those paintings. I’m also starting to develop the project I’m going to do after I’ve completed this collection of paintings. It’s a natural evolution and at the same time quite unlike anything I’ve done before.
If doors start closing on me, hey, I’ve got YouTube tutorials and a hardware store nearby so I can just cut and install my own doors, right?
Love you more,
Rob

I just can’t stop staring at this painting. Fantastic work!! And, as always, love and appreciate your candor and transparency ❤️
