Hi. My name's Rob Schamberger. I'm that guy who paints rasslers. And other stuff. Which is of no consequence at all.
WORDS
This was a fun one of some bikes parked down an alley in Florence. These were zipping all around us as we walked through the city, so it felt authentic to do at least one painting of them. Also a great excuse to paint one of the ancient cobblestone streets, which I have to say was the part of this painting I was most excited about making. Something about the combination of the lines, the curve of it and the textures really spoke to me.
Here’s a preview of Thursday’s new Bryan Danielson painting. Tikka’s proud of his work on it so far.

FIGURE DRAWING
Last Sunday I went to a figure drawing session with one of my regular models, Doug. I wanted to push further my more abstract approach to working with a live model with watercolor. It’s less about perfection and more about chasing a feeling, if that makes sense. Not so much about making it look right as feel right, I guess.
Above is a 15 minute pose.
Here’s a 20 minute pose. Doug like to challenge us by turning away occasionally, so there’s a lot less of the little things an artist can use to make sure something appears correct.
Above and below are 30 minute poses. I spent a little bit longer on my pencil guidelines for these, but not too much. I like to work out a lot of the decisions with the paint instead.
Solid session!
Jet Jaguar, look out behind you!
YOU GOOD?
A quiet week due to some external circumstances, but that’s ultimately okay. I find the small and less exciting weeks still have a lot to offer, as long as I properly adjust my perspective. Right? Like, seeing a beautiful flower can unlock as much serotonin as seeing a mountain range if I allow it to. It’s all about perspective.
Love you more,
Rob
