Hi. My name's Rob Schamberger. I'm that guy who paints rasslers. And other stuff. You know you done me wrong, baby.
WHAT’S NEW?
A few months ago WWE modified our working relationship and now requires concept approval before I do new paintings for them. I was waiting to see who and what came out of the Royal Rumble before submitting a new round of concepts, and now I’m waiting for those concepts to get approved.
So. Instead of just sitting around and looking pretty I made some smaller paintings for myself to keep my skills sharp. The above is of my fellow Kansas City resident Taylor Swift. It’s an honor for her to spend time in the same city I’m in, I’m sure.
This one was of one of the models I worked with for the Emotion Series, Zelda. She’s also a Kansas Citian. I like to use different subjects from my rasslin’ stuff because it opens my mind to different approaches and techniques, which I like to think came through here.
This was of the immortal Lucille Ball. To my knowledge she didn’t live in Kansas City, although there is a wax statue of her in Branson, MO I’m told. This painting has nothing to do with that wax statue or Branson, though.
I’m very happy with the Old Hollywood look of this, though.
Here’s a progress shot to whet your appetite for next week’s Iyo Sky painting. Sometimes I make paintin’s of the rasslers.
UPCOMING WWE PAINTINGS
Iyo Sky
Waiting on approvals to get started on what’s next. Could be:
Terry Funk (fingers crossed! My first ever of the Funker.)
Bayley
The Rock
Jade Cargill
Bianca Belair
Card subject to change.
THE EMOTION SERIES
“Dislike”
Acrylic on 20” x 30” board
The latest painting in my collection of works exploring how I experience emotions as a person with PTSD and Reactive Attachment Disorder. My hope is that these paintings will bring awareness, understanding and research to RAD.
There’s deep meaning to each of these, but I’m leaving it up to the viewer to decide for themselves what they mean and how they make them feel, with the intention of creating empathy through experiencing them.

WHAT I LIKED THIS WEEK
Katy and I watched the first couple episodes of Expats and I’m really into it so far. It asks a lot of really challenging questions of its characters and of us as the viewers. Coming as a surprise to absolutely no one, Nicole Kidman is outstanding in this. It’s a story about a community of expats in Hong Kong and centered on one family, Kidman’s, that has experienced a tragedy so big that it changes the lives of everyone in their orbit. Some more than others. And it challenges us as the viewers to question how we feel about this loss and how we view these characters in its wake.
We caught up on True Detective season four and are fully engrossed by its mysteries and its characters. Set during a long night in Alaska, a group of researchers experience something unusual, leading to their bizarre deaths. The cop investigating this, played by Jodie Foster, runs down every angle of this, not realizing all of those angles are actually a downward spiral.
I read Newburn volume one by Chip Zdarsky and Jacob Phillips yesterday morning and was taken by surprise by how much I loved it. It’s one of those killer concepts that you can’t believe hasn’t been done before: The various organized crime organizations in New York agree to have their own in-house detective to solve problems between them so that things don’t escalate out of control. It’s like The Godfather meets Columbo and I couldn’t get enough. Jacob Phillips also draws the hell out of this book. He’s young in age and in his career and is off to a tremendous start.
I finished up listening to the audiobook for The Dragon Reborn by Robert Jordan, the fourth in the Wheel of Time series, while working yesterday. I listened to the version narrated by Rosamund Pike, who does an outstanding performance. I liked that this one focused more on the female characters, who are fleshed out wonderfully in the show but didn’t really get their time to shine in the books until this volume.
SKULLS ARE COOL
A few years ago a kid looked me in the eyes and said, “Skulls are cool” and it was one of the wisest things I’ve ever heard.
So here’s a trio of paintings of skulls I made this week. I hope you think they’re cool.

NEW PRINTS AT WWE SHOP
Some new signed prints went up at WWE Shop over the past week including an extreme Paul Heyman, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Shinsuke Nakamura.
There was a huge run on our signed Cody Rhodes print and it sold out a few days ago. I’m working with Fanatics and WWE to get some more in stock in the next couple weeks. People like Cody a lot, I guess. Have you heard anything about that lately?
There’s a couple more signed prints going up on WWE Shop likely in the next week. Fanatics has the information for them and now we’re just waiting for the planets to align so that you can get at them. I don’t know. Probably. Maybe. We’ll find out together.
He earned it.
YOU GOOD?
Each month at the Schamberger Labs Art Fulfillment Center we like to recognize the employee who truly towers above all others. This month, it was a unanimous decision to honor Godzilla. When not trampling cities and eating trains, Big G (as we like to call him) does a meticulous job of packaging up artwork for our valued customers.
There’s a good chance that if you’ve ordered from us in the past few months, it was this cute boy who processed your order. How cool is that?
Love you more,
Rob
