Hey Friend,
We’ve been without power since Friday evening due to a massive storm that blew through, so this is a quick one this week:
LGTBQ ATHLETES
The latest entry to this series is Glenn Burke, the first openly gay player in the MLB. Watercolor on 12” x 9” watercolor paper.
THE SPIDER-MAN: BEYOND AMAZING EXHIBITION
My good friend David and I went to this exhibition at Union Station here in Kansas City. Easily one of the best experiences like this I’ve ever had. It was way more comics-heavy than I’d anticipated with a TON of original art from the likes of Steve Ditko, John Romita’s Sr and Jr, Gil Kane, Erik Larsen, Todd McFarlane, Mark Bagley and so many more! We were gobsmacked at how incredible it was. If you’re in the KC area or are near one of the towns it’s traveling to next, you should really make a point to check it out.
I mean seriously, just look at these. Rob in the 90’s sure thought he’d never see this original art in person:
MACHO MAN’S RAP ALBUM ON VINYL
He surprisingly sounds a lot like Ja Rule.
THAT’S ABOUT IT
Here’s the progress so far on next week’s Matt Riddle painting. It’s a ridiculously fun one and may inadvertently wind up being a bit of milestone in my career. Or it’ll be just another painting. Who knows.
Hopefully by the time you’re reading this our power is back on!
Love you more,
Rob
Quick Update
I love it when you do stuff like this so much!!! The New Daniel Bryan painting you did with him and the animals is still one of my favourites! Loved the Pearl Jam song too on your Insta story 😁🤜🏻🤛🏻 instant smile in my face man. I remember when I was on holiday once all the power went out in the sea side town I was at. Nothing as ever been quite as eerie as a holiday park in complete silence with no lights on man
