For my first-ever Mariah May painting I took inspiration from 30’s and 40’s pin-up art. Notably, for how they would use negative space to define the figures. I left a lot of visual information out, meaning what IS still in there needed to be done right. It’s not the easiest way to work but I really love the challenge of it.

Holy moly…
FOOD, DUDE!
Now that I have my sense of taste back, it’s definitely time to get back to my weekly cooking. This week I made this tasty Mexican ‘Lasagna’ Casserole. It uses tortilla shells instead of lasagna sheets and the refried beans fascinatingly give the same texture as bechamel, and then it’s a sauce more reminiscent of Ro-Tel. Since I’m a vegetarian I subbed veggie crumbles for the ground beef but otherwise stuck to the recipe.
It rocked, my friend. I’d go heavier on the spices the next time I make it, but otherwise this worked really well.
