Hi. My name's Rob Schamberger. I'm that guy who paints rasslers. And other stuff. Diamonds shinin’, lookin’ like I robbed Liberace.
WORDS
Lemme talk to ya! I hadn’t done a straightforward ink and watercolor WWE painting in a while and thought this LA Knight piece was a perfect opportunity. It’s historically been my traditional approach and each time I try to push myself to do it better than the time before.
With this one, the little ‘LA’ logos on his vest weren’t the easiest thing to do, but to make it easier on myself I used some masking fluid for them as well as the other white highlights. That way I didn’t have to paint around them, creating a sort of halo effect from how the paint dried. I was also digging on the diagonal line work I’d done on his vest and extended that out a bit in the background. Really happy with how this came out. Yeah.
ICYMI, here's the latest Canvas 2 Canvas episode. Tomorrow’s episode will go up on WWE's YouTube channel at 12PM CST!

My studio setup for the winter!
YOU GOOD?
One of those busy weeks for me this time around. My assistant David had another gig come up so I was doing all of the fulfillments in addition to my other work. I honestly enjoy doing that, especially at the new Schamberger Labs Art Fulfillment Center (SLAFC) because it’s so streamlined now. Yes I’m biased, but it’s a state-of-the-art facility and I’m damn proud of what we built there.
I then had a lot of files, a few hundred actually, to update for WWE to get us a big step closer to all of my work being up on WWE Shop and Fanatics. I ordered inventory on about half of them earlier in the week and began coordinating all of that at the SLAFC so that we’re ready to go once they’re live. The other half is ordered and I’ll work on them with David this coming week.
I messed up my right arm moving into the SLAFC and am close to recovered from that but not quite yet. Not a big problem while painting, but lifting anything over ten pounds has been excruciating. BUT. I needed to move my studio back upstairs on Wednesday. While the Earth is spherical it’s not perfectly round so the light gets weird in our sunroom around this time of year, shining through the leaves of our trees right onto my drawing table, creating a disorienting strobe effect. Got’s ta move!
So, I’m back in Studio North, aka our upstairs on the north side of the house. My table, desk and chair are the only heavier things to move and I was able to do it with mostly my left arm and the right just to steady them. Still ached a lot the next day, just in time to bring our house plants inside as it was going to get too cold overnight. Our house is radically different now, especially after I moved all of our shipping operations to the SLAFC.
Oh, and I spent the week painting my upcoming Rhea Ripley piece and continuing to work on my next ‘Emotion’ painting, the one I showed you the progress on last week.
Busy week! It was one of those where I woke up and went straight to work and didn’t stop for twelve or thirteen hours each day. Definitely looking forward to doing a whole lot of nothing today, that’s for sure.
Love you more,
Rob
