The moment that Kamille showed up on AEW to assist Mercedes Mone I was like, “Yes! I finally get to make a painting of her!” She’s been on my radar pretty much as soon as she debuted and I’ve really been looking forward to doing an official portrait of her as soon as the stars aligned to allow that.
You’ll notice that this is a fairly straight-forward painting without any bells or whistles and that’s because she doesn’t need them. Like, you just need to look at this woman, at her amazing physique, at those killer cheek bones and that killer stare to know all that you need to know. My job as artist with this one was to simply get out of the way and let her shine.

Another scratch n’ sniff image. Go ahead and try, it totally works!
FOOD, DUDE!
Saturday night I made this stuffed shells recipe for Katy and I. The sauce was a lovely jarred arrabbiata from Michael’s of Brooklyn as I didn’t have time to make it from scratch (next time!) but otherwise I made the filling. I boiled the noodles about a minute too long, but I’m getting better about pulling them when they’re al dente. Sauteing up the fresh minced garlic made the whole house smell incredible.
We had some frozen garlic bread (which we affectionately call ‘trash bread’) that I warmed up as a side and then we ate it while re-watching The Sopranos season four finale and Edie Falco’s tour-de-force performance in it.
A few weeks ago I took up cooking as a hobby and so far it’s going well. I’m not doing anything particularly fancy or complicated, it’s still about being in the moment, about the doing of a thing and not much more than that except I get to eat it when I’m done.
