Imagination set loose and I'm gonna shake 'em down.

Hi. My name's Rob Schamberger. I'm that guy who paints rasslers. And other stuff. Sweeter than a cherry pie with Reddi-wip topping.
WORDS
I’m really happy with this new Austin Theory painting. It’s another acrylic glazing piece, a method I’m starting to feel comfortable with and pushing myself stylistically. I also added in some water-soluble crayon to give it a little more frenetic energy.
When I saw Theory’s newer entrance with the spotlight I immediately thought, “This would be a ton of fun to paint!” and friend, I’m here to tell you that I was right. I’ve done very few Austin Theory paintings so far but with the way things are going for him and the way this one turned out, I imagine there’s many more to come.
ICYMI, here's last week's Canvas 2 Canvas episode. Tomorrow's episode will go up on WWE's YouTube channel at 11AM CST!

HEADS UP: The prices on my prints at Schamberger Labs will be going up by $5 in the next week or two. Real-world cost-of-doing-business stuff is making that happen. I put it off probably longer than I should have but here we are. Thanks for your continued support of the arts!

FIGURE DRAWING SESSION
Tuesday night was the latest figure drawing session at Art School KC. This month I tried out doing acrylic paint for the longer poses, with the above being the final 25 minute pose. We actually had two models this time around through a schedule mix-up but it led to some great options as they worked opposite of each other, giving everyone lots of options. As you can see above, I framed one model with the back of the other one.
ROCK VS AUSTIN WRESTLING LANDSCAPE PROGRESS
I added white to the underpainting as well as some grey tones to the top to get things ready for when I apply the first coat of color glazing. It’s my first time doing acrylic glazing with a painting this big and complex, so I’m nervous about it but also super excited. I mean, hey, it’s acrylic so if something’s not working I can just paint over it!
It’s an enamel pin of the WWE2K23 logo and nothing else.
YOU GOOD?
A mixed bag for me this week.
Our old man cat Korma’s not doing so great, which is taking up a lot of my brain power to be honest. He’s my best buddy and I love him a whole lot. These things keep coming up and it’s harder each time for him to bounce back. With our vet’s guidance we’re doing everything we can for him and he’s in good spirits.
Tuesday night my high school art teacher Manning Williams and I went to figure drawing, which I talked more about above. We go for dinner beforehand each month to catch up and it’s a delightful way to spend an evening.
Most of the week went towards working on Top Secret Project: CODENAME SABOTAGE. Yes, I know I said this was finally getting announced last week and that obviously didn’t happen. We had some more complications come up that took a little while to address but we got it there. For crying out loud, I think this should launch any time but we’ve obviously seen that my track record hasn’t been great at this. I’ve never done anything this complex before but I know I’ll be really glad we got so much worked out before it goes live. Stay tuned.
Thursday night I planted our vegetable garden, which is one of my very favorite things to do each year. A variety of bell peppers and twelve varieties of tomato plants are in the ground and being tended to. I just love the ritual of watering every morning, looking at how they’re doing and pulling any weeds trying to make their way in.
That night I also received a box from my friends at 2K Games containing a care package of goodies including a hoodie with my WWE2K23 Icon Edition cover painting on the back and the above enamel pin based on that same painting. How amazing, right? They’re such a cool group to work with and they make me feel really valued.
So yeah, ups and downs this week. I’m going to spend the rest of today petting on Korma and making sure he knows he’s my best guy.
Love you more,
Rob
